* Fleet Notes:
  • The first two digits in the registration number denote the production year.
  • Aircraft 0433, the first KC-10A produced, was actually the second aircraft to be delivered to the USAF, 0434 was delivered first. 0433 still retains much of the special wiring harnesses originally used by MDC for flight testing.
  • 0433, 0434 and 1950 were the only KC-10's to retain the original blue & white over gray paint scheme when the USAF began painting the fleet in the low-visibility scheme. 1950 received her low-vis gray paint in 1997, as did 0434. In March of 1998, 0433 was also repainted, bringing the era of the white-top KC-10 to an end.
  • Aircraft 82-0190 was destroyed when fuel leaking into her Center Accessory Compartment (CAC) was ignited during external power application. The aircraft broke in two and was partially consumed by fire while parked on the Barksdale AFB flightline, an aircraft mechanic onboard at the time of the explosion was overcome by fumes and died from smoke inhalation.
  • The KC-10 fleet was formerely stationed with units at March AFB, CA (Now March Air Reserve Base), Barksdale AFB, LA, and Seymour Johnson AFB, NC. In 1994, KC-10's were relocated to their current stations by the Base Realignment And Closure Commity (BRACC).
